Ceftiofur HCL is a broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic used for:
Treatment and control of swine bacterial respiratory disease (swine bacterial pneumonia) associated with Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida, Salmonella Choleraesuis, and Streptococcus suis.
Treatment of bovine respiratory disease (BRD, shipping fever, pneumonia) associated with Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, and Histophilus somni.
Treatment of acute bovine interdigital necrobacillosis (foot rot, pododermatitis) associated with Fusobacterium necrophorum and Bacteroides melaninogenicus.
Treatment of acute metritis (0 to 14 days post-partum) associated with bacterial organisms susceptible to ceftiofur.
Respiratory disease: 1 mg ceftiofur /kg body weight per day for 3-5 days, i.e. 1 ml/50 kg body weight at each injection.
Acute interdigital necrobacillosis: 1 mg/kg body weight per day for 3 days, i.e. 1 ml/50 kg body weight at each injection.
Acute post-partum metritis within 10 days after calving: 1 mg/kg body weight per day for 5 consecutive days, i.e. 1 ml/50 kg body weight at each injection.
