Each 100 mL contains:
Atropine sulfate 0.5 mg
Excipient q.s. 1 mL
ATROPISA® VET is indicated as an antispasmodic when there is hypermotility of the gastrointestinal tract, hypertonicity of the urinary
bladder, and in parasympathetic overstimulation of the bronchi.
It can also reduce bronchospasm.
It is useful to keep the respiratory tract clear before and after anesthesiadue to its antisecretory effect.
It can also be used in the treatment of peptic ulcers, as it reduces secretions and gastric motility, thereby slowing the emptying of gastric contents.
To counteract the effects of agents that inhibit the enzyme acetylcholinesterase such as organophosphates and neostigmine.
Canines:
As an adjuvant in preanesthesia: 0.02 to 0.04 mg/kg, equivalent to 0.4 to 0.8 mL per 10 kg, by IM, slow IV, and subcutaneous routes.
In older patients, a dose of 0.01 to 0.02 mg/kg, equivalent to 0.2 to 0.4 mL per 10 kg, is recommended.
As an adjunct treatment for bradycardia, atrioventricular blocks, and during cerebral/cardiopulmonary resuscitation: 0.04 mg/kg, equivalent to 0.8 mL per 10 kg, by IV route.
Intratracheally: 0.08 to 0.1 mg/kg, equivalent to 1.6 to 2 mL per 10 kg, diluted in 5 to 10 mL of sterile water before administration.
For treatment of organophosphate poisoning: 0.02 to 0.05 mg/kg, equivalent to 0.4 to 1 mL per 10 kg, administer one-quarter of the dose by IV route and the remainder by IM or subcutaneous route.
For the treatment of bronchoconstriction: 0.02 to 0.04 mg/kg, equivalent to 0.4 to 0.8 mL per 10 kg for a duration of effect between 1 to 1.5 hours.
Felines:
As an adjuvant in preanesthesia: 0.02 to 0.04 mg/kg, equivalent to 0.2 to 0.4 mL per 5 kg by IM, slow IV or subcutaneous route. In elderly patients, a dose of 0.01 to 0.02 mg/kg is recommended,
equivalent to 0.1 to 0.2 mL per 5 kg.
Equines:
For the treatment of bradyarrhythmias due to increased parasympathetic tone: 0.01 to 0.02 mg/kg, equivalent to 1 to 2 mL per 50 kg of weight, by IV route, or 0.045 mg/kg, equivalent to 4.5 mL per 50 kg by IM route.
As an adjunctive treatment for bradycardia, atrioventricular
blocks, and during cerebral/cardiopulmonary resuscitation: 0.04 mg/kg,
equivalent to 0.4 mL IV. By intratracheal
route: 0.08 to 0.1 mg/kg, equivalent to 0.8 to 1 mL per 5 kg, diluted in 5 to 10 mL of sterile
water before administration. For treatment of organophosphate poisoning: 0.02 to 0.05 mg/kg, equivalent to 0.2 to 0.5 mL per 5 kg, administer one-quarter of the dose IV and the remainder IM or subcutaneously.
